What flowers grow well in georgia red clay?

I want to start a garden but the soil is really hard. It's georgia red clay. I do buy the soil from places like home depot but it gets blown away or something. Eventually, it will disapear.
Amending your soil is the best way to go. Adding compost, and maybe sand to loosen the ground and other amending ingredients will make the soil amenable

Check out this book at your local library...Square Foot Gardening. Using this system you don't worry about the soil.

Can I start cone flowers from seed in the fall for next years blooming? Live in Georgia?

Yes, you certainly can. If you're collecting seeds from neighbors the blooms may not be exactly the same but seeds from packets will be true to the package.
