Iris flowers?

I understand I should "deadhead" my iris after the flowers die. What exactly does that mean and how is it done.Thanks
The term dead head means to remove the dead flower. just pull the dead flower out of the stem. This encourages new blooms. A plant will continue to try

snap the wilted flowers off the stalk. you can just give them a little twist and they come right off.

If I plant different colored iris in the same bed, overtime do the iris all turn one color?
no only new off spring would be different. you can prevent that by dead heading your flowers.

Yes, the iris just bloom once a year. You can leave them right in the ground, and once the blooms are over trim the leaves down to about 6 inches high,
