How often do tulips that have been planted in a potter need to be watered?

I was given red tulips as a gift and don't really know the first thing about taking care of them. Any help please?
Be sure there's a hole in the bottom of the pot or else you'll drown them. Water generously when the soil is dry to touch or the foliage starts to droop.
