Where to go in Ireland for St Patricks day?

Being half Irish (although sorry to say have never been to Ireland) I would like to go next year for St Patricks day (also my 20th Birthday on St Patricks day 2009) but want to know
County Cork. It's not nearly as busy as Dublin, but just as fun, and not as expensive too.

I know that may sound a weird question. But what happens? What is the mood like? Are there St Patrick DAy displays in the shops? Are there groups of angry loyalists looking for CAtholics
You just have to watch out for snake bites and spilled Guinness.
